Sambucus Elderflower
The Elderflower tree, also known as Elderberry, is a beautiful deciduous large shrub to small tree. Large clusters of perfumed, delicate white flowers bloom in late spring to early summer, before producing small dark purple berries that ripen in autumn. Flowers can be picked and made into cordial or wine, often used in cocktails. Elderberries are a superfood high in antioxidants, and proven to reduce cold and flu symptoms and boost immune function, and can be made into a syrup or dried for tea. A delicious sweet dark berry flavour reminiscent of blackcurrant. Can be grown in large pots using a Premium Potting Mix. For enhanced growth and fruiting we recommend using Troforte M Fruit & Citrus Slow Release fertiliser. Elderflowers grow to reach 6m height and 3m width.
Water: Water well and often when freshly planted and during warmer seasons. Use a chunky mulch, we recommend using Aussie Organics Chunky Pine Bark.
Sun: Full sun to part shade.
Soil: Fertile, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. We recommend using Aussie Organics Premium Soil Conditioner and Charlie Charcoal prior to planting.
