Commonly known as the giant bromeliad, Alcantarea Imperialis is a stunning giant bromeliad with glossy pale green leaves forming a tight vase rosette - this is where bromeliads drink from. Bromeliads are monocarpic, meaning they spend years growing big enough to make one large floral display, before dying and giving way to their offsets to take over. The flower display of this Alcantarea takes about one year from start to finish. For enhanced growth and flowering we recommend using Troforte M All Purpose Slow Release fertiliser at half recommended application rate. Alcantarea Imperialis reaches 2m height and 1.5m width.

Water: Water well and often when freshly planted and during warmer seasons. Use a chunky mulch, we recommend using Aussie Organics Chunky Pine Bark.

Sun: Full sun to part shade, dappled.

Soil:Moist, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. We recommend using Aussie Organics Premium Soil Conditioner and Charlie Charcoal prior to planting.
