Lavender is completely at home in Perth's Mediterranean climate. Full sun. Very well-drained soil - waterlogging is the most common cause of death. Sandy Perth soils are ideal. Minimal watering once established. Prune by up to one-third immediately after flowering. Do not cut into bare woody stems. Avonview is one of the best French Lavenders for Perth - a compact, well-branched form with rich purple flowers topped by distinctive coloured bracts, flowering heavily from late winter through spring.
