Leucadendron Silver Tree

Leucadendron is a South African Proteaceae that has found an almost perfect second home in Perth. The Cape Floristic Region shares a remarkably similar climate to the WA South West - hot dry summers, mild wet winters, nutrient-poor sandy soils - which is why this genus performs so naturally here. Grown primarily for ornamental foliage bracts that turn vivid shades of red, burgundy, yellow, gold, and cream and hold their colour for months. Full sun. Sandy, extremely well-drained soil. Phosphorus-free native fertiliser - this is non-negotiable. No manure, no general fertilisers. Minimal summer irrigation once established. Prune lightly after the main colour display.
