Parlour Palm - Chamaedorea Elegans
Parlour Palm has been grown as a houseplant since the Victorian era - one of the oldest and most reliable indoor palms in cultivation - and it remains popular because nothing has replaced it for the combination of graceful appearance and genuine tolerance of indoor conditions. It produces slender, upright canes with arching, feathery fronds in a compact form that suits tabletops when young and floor positions as it matures to around 1.5m. It tolerates low light better than almost any other palm, handles dry indoor air without complaint, and is non-toxic to pets. Slow-growing and long-lived - a plant worth investing in. Low to medium indirect light. Water when the top half of soil is dry. Feed monthly in spring and summer.
