Morrison Feather Flower is one of the most extraordinary WA wildflowers in cultivation - a small shrub producing masses of vivid pink flowers in spring, each one fringed with the feathery petals that give the entire Verticordia genus its common name. Up close the flowers are intricate and almost impossibly detailed; from a distance the plant appears to be covered in pink down. It is genuinely rare in cultivation and more demanding than most garden plants, but for those willing to provide exactly the right conditions the reward is exceptional. Sandy, very well-drained soil is non-negotiable - never clay, never waterlogged. Full sun. Phosphorus-free fertiliser. Minimal irrigation. Perth's coastal sandy soils are close to ideal.
