Aeonium Inferno produces extraordinary deep burgundy-red to near-black rosettes on branching stems - the colour is intense in full sun and most vivid during Perth's cooler months. Aeoniums have an unusual seasonal growth pattern: they grow actively through winter and spring, then semi-dormant in summer heat, which is when the dark colour is most concentrated. The combination of the dark rosettes and the branching, somewhat skeletal stems in summer creates a striking architectural effect.
