Alocasia Black Velvet is an exotic dwarf Alocasia, making a striking statement wherever it lives. With its velvety dark almost black foliage and silver veins, there aren’t many plants quite like it. This houseplant is very popular with both collectors and beginners, and is considerably easy to grow given its delicate seeming foliage. Like all alocasias, foliage may die back during cooler months, during which time the plants should not be watered, with foliage and watering resuming once regular warmth returns. Alocasia Black Velvet rarely flowers, but if it does its best to remove them to ensure all energy is directed to growing wonderful lush healthy foliage. For enhanced growth we recommend using Troforte M Indoor & Patio Slow Release fertiliser. Alocasia Black Velvet reaches 45cm height and 30m width.

Water: Water well and frequently during active growth, once the top 1-2cm has dried. During cooler months water sparingly, or not at all if bulbs become dormant.

Sun: East or south facing windows, North facing windows at a 1-2m distance.

Soil: In pots, a well-draining, fertile indoor mix. We recommend using The Home Plant Co Indoor Potting Mix.
