Banksia Ashbyi
Banksia ashbyi is a dense rounded shrub to small tree native to Western Australia. With serrated blue-green foliage and brilliant large yellow-orange flowers during spring and autumn, this Banksia is excellent for attracting birds and pollinating insects, as well as providing an important food source for the Carnaby Black Cockatoo. It occurs naturally in red, yellow or white sand in coastal areas or red dunes and sandplains between Exmouth and Geraldton. Banksia ashbyi is excellent as a feature plant, used for screening or as a windbreak. Beautiful, hardy and best suited to full sun, it is also drought tolerant once established. For enhanced growth and flowering we recommend using Troforte M Native Slow Release fertiliser. Banksia ashbyi grows to 8m height and 2-3m width.
Water: Water well and often when freshly planted. Drought tolerant once established.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Sandy, free draining soils making it perfectly suited to the Perth environment. Enrich with organic matter for an added boost to growth. We recommend using Aussie Organics Premium Soil Conditioner prior to planting.
