A Rex begonia, Silver White has eye-catching silver foliage with dark green veins, and deep ruby red undersides. Rex begonias can be very fussy when it comes to watering and humidity, preferring to never dry out completely but also being susceptible to overwatering. They love ambient humidity, preventing the leaves from getting crispy brown edges, but water on the foliage will certainly cause powdery mildew. Once their basic recipe of a little of this and less of that is understood, they are surprisingly fuss free and easy to grow. For foliage like this, it’s worth the test! Mildly toxic to humans, pets. For enhanced growth and flowering we recommend using Troforte M Indoor & Patio Slow Release fertiliser. Silver White begonia reaches 40cm height and 30-400cm width.

Water: Water well and thoroughly when the soil is half way dry, ensuring to only water the soil and keep foliage dry. Foliage will wilt and collapse in extreme dehydration, but left to soak for 1-2 hours will quickly spring the plant to life.

Sun: Bright indirect or some morning sun. Will not tolerate more than 5 hours of direct sun, hot dry westerly windows, but north windows tolerated at a distance.

Soil: Well-draining, fertile indoor mix. We recommend using The Home Plant Co Indoor Potting Mix. Perlite can be added to reduce risk of overwatering but will dry out faster.
