Calathea Rufibarba

Calatheas are the prayer plants - so called because the leaves fold upward at night as if in prayer. They are grown for extraordinary foliage: intricate patterns in deep green, silver, cream, and purple that look hand-painted. They are more demanding than most indoor plants, preferring high humidity, consistent moisture, and protection from draughts and cold. Bright to medium indirect light - avoid direct sun which bleaches the patterns. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. High humidity essential - mist regularly or use a humidifier. Use room-temperature water, ideally rainwater or filtered water. Feed monthly in spring and summer.
