Chamelaucium Paddys Pink
Wax flowers carry masses of small, long-lasting waxy blooms in late winter and spring, and they are among the world's great cut flowers. They are adapted to sandy coastal soils and dry summers, which is exactly what Perth offers. Wax flowers are notably sensitive to overwatering and poor drainage - plant in the most well-drained position you have, and never irrigate in summer once established. Prune lightly after flowering to keep the habit dense. Low-phosphorus native fertiliser only. Paddys Pink is a hybrid between Chamelaucium and Verticordia, a larger shrub to around two metres with spicily fragrant foliage and a heavy spring flowering.
