Cupaniopsis Anacardioides

The Tuckeroo is one of the best small shade trees for a tough coastal site. It holds a dense, rounded canopy of glossy dark green pinnate leaves, carries sprays of greenish-cream flowers in spring, and follows them with bright orange capsules that draw birds and butterflies. Salt and wind tolerant with a non-invasive root system, which is why it is used so widely as a street and verge tree. Full sun to part shade. Adaptable to most well-drained soils, including sand. Regular water while establishing, then moderate. Little pruning needed.
