Dichondra Green Surfer

Green Surfer is a selection of Dichondra repens bred to trail rather than carpet. The plain species runs flat along the ground and roots as it goes, which is what makes it a lawn substitute; Green Surfer instead sends stems out to a metre and a half, densely set with small, perfectly round deep green leaves. It is pure foliage, and it holds its colour and condition through heat better than most trailing plants, which suits it to a hanging basket, the lip of a tall pot or the top of a retaining wall. It does the same job as the silver Dichondras in green. Full sun to part shade. Well-draining soil or potting mix. Water regularly while establishing, then only through the hottest spells.
