Dichondra Repens

Dichondra repens is the Australian native kidney weed, a fine-textured groundcover that runs flat along the ground and roots as it goes, forming a soft mat of small round leaves. It is the Dichondra to use as a no-mow lawn alternative, between pavers and stepping stones, and in shaded strips where grass struggles, and it takes light foot traffic once established. The named selections, Emerald Falls, Green Surfer and Silver Falls, are bred to trail long from a pot instead, so they are basket and container plants rather than ground cover. Part to full shade. Well-drained soil. Water regularly in hot weather, especially in pots.
