Geraldton Wax - Local Hero

Chamelaucium Local Hero was developed by Kings Park and Botanic Gardens, and is a beautiful, densley-flowering graceful shrub. Coming into spring it is covered in masses of glossy red buds, opening to an abundance of pink flowers in mid spring, continuing for extended periods. The blooms are complimented by a dense backdrop of fine green foliage, creating an outstanding display. Local Hero is a fast growing rounded shrub that prefers an open sunny to partly shaded spot in the garden. Well tolerant of coastal, and hot dry conditions, with a low watering requirement once established - around 12 weeks. For enhanced growth and flowering we recommend using Troforte M Native Slow Release fertiliser. Chamelaucium Local Hero grows to 80-100cm height and 1.5m width.

Water: Water well and often when freshly planted. Use a chunky mulch in the garden, we recommend using Aussie Organics Chunky Pine Bark. Drought tolerant once established.

Sun: Full sun to part shade.

Soil: Fertile, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. We recommend using Aussie Organics Premium Soil Conditioner and Charlie Charcoal prior to planting.
