Grey Cotton Heads - Conostylis Candicans
This Western Australian perennial has strappy grey-green narrow foliage and small clusters of yellow flowers, providing pops of vibrant colour during spring. These flowers attract birds and other pollinators to the garden. Conostylis candicans is widely used as a border, flat ground cover or shrubbery, and it is also wind and drought tolerant. Conostylis candicans is low maintenance, however water well until established, and further during hot summer months. For enhanced growth and flowering we recommend using Troforte M Native Slow Release fertiliser. Conostylis candicans can grow to 30cm height and 50cm width.
Water: Water well and often when freshly planted. Heat and drought tolerant once established, but the occasional deep soaking during summer is appreciated.
Sun: Full sun for best performance, part shade tolerated.
Soil: Sandy, free draining soils making it perfectly suited to the Perth environment. Enrich with organic matter for an added boost to growth. We recommend using Aussie Organics Premium Soil Conditioner prior to planting.
