Olive - Olea Manzanillo

Originally from Seville, Spain. A beautiful spreading tree bearing early crops of medium-sized fruit which can be picked either green or black, Manzanillo has the highest flesh-to-pit ratio of any olive and is well suited to stuffing and pickling. This very heavy cropper out-yielded 14 other varieties in a trial conducted by the Victorian Department of Agriculture. Many consider Manzanillo to be the best dual-purpose variety available, as it’s also self-pollinating. Extended dry, hot conditions improve fruit yield. Highly drought tolerant and adaptable to coastal conditions. For enhanced growth and flowering we recommend using Troforte M All Purpose Slow Release fertiliser. 8m height and 8m width at maturity.

Water: Water well and often when freshly planted until tree becomes established. Additional watering during flowering and fruit set may be required. Drought tolerant.

Sun: Full sun.

Soil: Tolerant of poor soils, however well-drained and fertile is ideal. We recommend using Aussie Organics Premium Soil Conditioner prior to planting.
