Strelitzia Reginae

Strelitzia reginae, the Bird of Paradise, builds a dense clump of upright grey-green paddle leaves and sends up its famous crane-shaped flowers in orange and blue on established plants. It is grown as much for the bold, structural foliage as for the flowers. Bright indirect light. Strelitzia reginae can take full sun, but the plants in this listing are grown under shade cloth at our production nursery and suit a similarly shaded position. Moving one into full sun needs a hardening-off period first. Well-drained soil. Water regularly through summer, less in winter. Drought tolerant once established.
