Telopea Shady Lady Crimson

Shady Lady Crimson Waratah produces deep crimson flower heads - the classic Waratah colour, vivid and bold - on a cultivar bred specifically to tolerate part shade. That combination is genuinely rare: most Proteaceae need full sun to perform well, but Shady Lady was selected from the shade-tolerant Waratah species for exactly this quality. It flowers in late spring and grows to 2-3m. The crimson heads are large and dramatic, each one a cluster of tubular flowers surrounded by coloured bracts in the Waratah's distinctive architectural form. Part shade to full sun. Well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Phosphorus-free fertiliser. Water through summer. Prune hard after flowering.
