Outdoor Plants for Part Sun

Garden plants for spots that get between two and six hours of direct sun a day. Many of these will also grow in full sun, so check the light rating on each plant.

Morning sun is gentler than afternoon sun. A bed that gets its sun before lunch suits most of these plants better than one that takes the full afternoon heat.

Go by the shadier months. The winter sun sits much lower, so a spot beside a fence or a wall can get far less sun from May to August than it does in summer.
